Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion is moving closer to the release of its BlackBerry 10 platform, and has made available for download refreshed tools for developers interested in coming up with applications for the platform.
Among these, we can count the BlackBerry 10 WebWorks SDK and Native SDK, the former available for download in a beta flavor as version 1.0.0.15, while the latter released as version 10.0.4.
The BlackBerry 10 WebWorks SDK will offer developers the possibility to come up with WebWorks-based BlackBerry 10 applications.
The SDK now features blackberry.ui.dialog APIs, along with an API that will work with the standard HTML5 onLine API to offer info on how connected the app is.
The update also enables the use of BlackBerry WebWork with a module loader, and provides devs with the possibility to sign their applications to test them on secure devices.
The SDK can be used in conjunction with RIM’s Ripple Emulator, which offers support for testing WebWorks applications for BlackBerry OS and Tablet OS.
It offers support for multiple devices, platforms and form factors, thus enabling developers to test both BlackBerry 10 and non-BlackBerry 10 applications.
As for the BlackBerry 10 Native SDK, it comes with all the necessary tools that developers require to start the development of applications for the BlackBerry 10 platform, namely compiler, linker, C/C++ libraries, and an extensive IDE.
It is accompanied by a BlackBerry 10 Alpha Simulator, so that applications can also be tested inside a virtual machine which supports accelerated graphics, audio, and peripheral simulation.
