Calibre 0.8.56 Has Support for .docx Files

Version 0.8.56 of the e-book reader and management software Calibre was announced on June 15th, with some important new features and fixes.

Calibre 0.8.56 comes with support for new files and for the new Sony Reader store.

Highlights of Calibre 0.8.56:

• Reading metadata from .docx (Microsoft Word) files is now possible;
• Customizing the behavior of the searching for similar books by right clicking the book is now allowed;
• An option to restore alternating row colors to the Tag Browser under Preferences->Look & Feel->Tag Browser has been added;
• Plugins to handle website changes at ebooks.com, project gutenberg, and virtualo have been fixed;
• A regression in 0.8.55 that broke highlighting of items matching a search in the Tag Browser was fixed;
• News sources have been improved.
