Apple Now Throws in a MagSafe 2 Converter with Every Thunderbolt Display

With the release of several new Macs this summer, Apple introduced a new MagSafe standard that makes it impossible to power new computers and displays with old AC adapters. That doesn’t apply for new Thunderbolt Displays, though.

As spotted by MacRumors, Apple is including the minuscule MagSafe to MagSafe 2 Converter with every new Thunderbolt Display, eliminating the need to purchase the converter yourself, if you wish to acquire a brand new display today.

The converter is also available as a standalone product from Apple’s online store and retail stores. It costs $9.99 (about 8 EUR), which is not very cheap for such a small and simple component.

We’d be inclined to say it’s a nice touch to include the adapter with the $999 purchase of a Thunderbolt Display but, really, it’s just common sense.
