Micromax Launches Cheap Funbook Talk Tablet in India

One of the most prolific Indian handset makers, Micromax has just announced the immediate availability of yet another Android device, the Funbook Talk tablet.

Aside from the fact that it’s really cheap, the slate comes with voice support, which means users will be able to take calls or browse the Internet via EDGE connectivity.

Customers in India who wish to purchase the Funbook Talk tablet will have to come up with only Rs 7,199 (140 USD or 105 EUR) upfront. Check it out here.

This is one of the few tablets capable of making phone calls, and the only Funbook tablet launched by Micromax to offer GSM support.

Other than that, the slate’s specs sheet is far from being impressive. The tablet is powered by a single-core ARM Cortex A8 processor clocked at 1GHz.

In addition, Funbook Talk packs 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

The tablet sports a small 7.0-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 800 x 480 pixels resolution. There’s also VGA camera in the front, which enables users to make video calls.

It is also worth mentioning that Funbook Talk does not support 3G connectivity, but users will be able to attach USB 3G dongles for better browsing performance.

There’s also a mini HDMI port available for users to take advantage of, as well as Wi-Fi support which will greatly help reduce data costs.

Software-wise, the slate is powered by Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. A slew of media, educational and social networking apps and services have been included as well.

Last but not least, Funbook Talk tablet drains energy from a 2800 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 5 hours of talk time.
