Developer Sidesteps App Store Guidelines, Stretches iPhone 5 Screenshots

AcePlayer, a powerful media playing application for iPhone and iPad, now offers full support for iPhone 5 and iOS 6.0. Or so says the changelog, because the screenshots certainly aren’t to be believed.

Just one of many developers to sidestep Apple’s recent guidelines for iPhone 5 submissions developer Ranysoft decided it was much simpler to just stretch their iPhone 4 / 4S screenshots to fit the 1136x640 resolution requirement following the iPhone 5 launch.

What’s striking is that Apple is allowing it, while Ranysoft is risking rejection over being utterly lazy.

Apple’s wrath used to be feared far and wide back when Steve Jobs was running the show. Not anymore, apparently.

In any case, you can take Ranysoft’s word for it and download AcePlayer 2.3 to see how it displays on your iPhone 5. The situation is all the more embarrassing considering the app’s hefty price tag.
