Google Issues AdWords Credit Cards in the UK, Later in the US

Google is getting ready to issue AdWords-branded credit cards, in the UK first but later expanding to the US. The cards are designed to make it easier for small businesses to spend on advertising, before having the funds to do so. The program is run through Barclaycard in the UK and Comenity Capital Bank.

The program has already been in testing in the US with some 1,400 businesses. It is now moving to the UK, but more businesses in the US will later be invited.

"Small business owners are used to being pressed: for resources, for time, and especially for credit," Google explained the need for this new line of credit.

"Juggling expenses across different credit cards and managing seasonal business spikes and valleys doesn’t leave much room for other spending, like investing in a new oven at a pizzeria or treating a great customer to dinner," it said

Businesses will get a variable 11.9 percent ARP interest rate in the UK and a rate starting at 8.99 percent in the US. There will be no annual fees on the cards and Google says the credit limit should be sufficient for everyone.
