Todays Microsoft Download Roundup: WLM, Movie Maker and More

The Redmond-based technology giant today released several updates for its Windows Live products, some of them comprising fixes or patches aimed at Windows 8 users.

First of all, Microsoft rolled out Windows Live Writer 2012 16.4.3505.912, a revised version of the popular blogging tool that can now work flawlessly on Windows 8 too, both 32- and 64-bit releases.

Windows Live Family Safety has also been updated with new features and because Windows 8 users had some problems running this app, Microsoft also rolled out a bunch of instructions to make the program work smoothly on
this new version of the OS.

Windows 8 also comes with its very own parental control software, so some tricks are needed to make this work on the new OS. More details are available here.

Windows Live Mail 2012 16.4.3505.0912 was released today, bringing Windows 8 compatibility and some minor fixes that allow it to get emails to your desktop with minimum effort.

As we told you a few hours ago, Windows Live Messenger 2012 is another program that was updated today, so Windows 8 users can now install and run Microsoft’s instant messaging client just like they’d normally do on previous Windows iterations.

Last but not least, Windows Live Movie Maker and Windows Live Photo Gallery received new versions to fix previously reported bugs and, again, to get along better with the operating system that will go live on October 25.

Microsoft has also unveiled a brand new tool called Bing Maps SDK for Windows Store apps, a piece of software that allows developers to integrate Bing functionality into their newly created Windows Store apps.

Of course, all programs are listed here on Softpedia and can be downloaded for free by simply clicking on the hyperlinks above.
