The most powerful music creation tool in the Apple App Store (according to its developers), SunVox, just got better. A lot better, actually, going by the mile-long changelog posted by Alexander Zolotov.
Updated over the weekend to version 1.7.2, the five-dollar app (€3.99) now loads XM and MOD files (formats of old trackers) without the converter. Users can simply access the Main Menu, and tap Load Song.
Alexander says you can find hundreds of these files on modarchive.org.
Other enhancements include a new velocity map in the MultiSynth module, and improved CPU Usage Monitor with scrolling and module selection.

Other cool additions are listed below (highlights).
* maximum Echo delay length increased to 4 seconds;
* new controller in the Echo module - "Delay units" with different available modes (ms, Hz, ticks, lines);
* new controller in the Vibrato module - "Set phase";
* new simple examples: MIDI_out, waveshaper, velocity_map, reverb2, reverb3;
* new instruments in instruments/keyboard directory: piano14, piano15, space, space2;
* new instruments in instruments/various directory: electric_guitar, noise_slide_up, electro_drum_loop;
* sound engine optimization;
SunVox is currently compatible with any iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, and requires iOS 3.0 or later. Unfortunately Alexander Zolotov is putting off iPhone 5 compatibility for another update, which means SunVox currently doesn’t take advantage of the new phone’s larger display.
