Jelly Bean for Galaxy S III in South Korea on October 9

South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung is reportedly gearing up for the release of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the LTE-enabled Galaxy S III smartphones on shelves in its homeland market.

All 4G-capable Galaxy S III units in the country (namely SHV-E210S for SKTelecom, SHV-E210K for KT, and SHV-210L for LGU+) will taste the new update on October 9, a recent article on SamMobile reads.

Unfortunately, it appears that the non-4G flavor of the mobile phone available at SK Telecom will not see the update just yet.

The new operating system flavor, namely Android 4.1.1, was already pushed out to other devices out there, and is also present on the Galaxy Note II smartphone that started to hit shelves recently.

The update will bring the OS of Galaxy S III units up to Jelly Bean from the previously available Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich OS version on them.

As part of the new software, users will benefit from better performance capabilities when it comes to moving from the homescreen to applications and the other way around.

Moreover, the usability of some of the pre-loaded applications is said to have been improved as well in the new OS release.

Some of the other enhancements the new platform upgrade arrives with on Galaxy S III include:

Added preloaded application
- Added Help application

New & Improved functions
- Added Easy mode, Interception mode
- Improved Camera ability: added Pause function when you record video
- Added Smart Rotation
- Upgrade Pop up Play: Can control its size and add pause function
- Improved usability for some application & function

Samsung hasn’t made an official announcement on the availability of this platform upgrade as of yet, but it might unveil specific details on the matter in the coming days, so stay tuned to learn more on this.
