Intel-Powered XOLO X900 Android Smartphone Gets a Price Cut in India

Indian handset maker Lava Mobile and Intel teamed up to offer Android enthusiasts the powerful XOLO X900 smartphone.

Although the smartphone was launched in India back in April, customers had to come up with no less than Rs 21,999 (420 USD or 325 EUR) upfront to grab this one.

Six months after its official launch, Lava Mobiles decided to cut XOLO X900’s price in order to make it more attractive to Android fans.

Starting this week, those who can afford it will only have to pay Rs 17,500 (335 USD or 260 EUR) for the XOLO X900.

The smartphone is now on sale at major retailer Flipkart, which also offers a free Jabra BT-2045 Bluetooth headset worth Rs 1,499 to each customer who purchases the XOLO X900.

XOLO X900 has been launched with Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform onboard, but Lava promised an Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade will eventually be available.

Unfortunately, the Indian handset maker has yet to keep its promise and deliver the Android 4.0 ICS update. Other than that, the XOLO X900 is a pretty interesting device.

It comes equipped with a single-core Atom Z2460 processor clocked at 1.6GHz, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory. Unfortunately, the device lacks a microSD card slot for memory expansion.

Furthermore, the smartphone sports a 4.03-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 1024 x 600 pixels resolution, 16 million colors, and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

There’s an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front there’s a secondary 1.3-megapixel camera for video calls.

The phone’s 1460 mAh Li-Ion battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 14 hours of talk time (8 hours in 3G mode). Wi-Fi, HSDPA (21 Mbps) and HSUPA (5.76 Mbps) are available as well.
