ASUS Launches 120 MHz VG278H 3D Monitor with Nvidia 3D Vision
The world’s largest mainboard manufacturer, Taiwanese company ASUS has just launched a 3D monitor featuring Nvidia’s 3D Vision technology and the necessary 120 MHz refresh rate.
The new display also sports 3D LightBoost technology that will improve image brightness despite the use of the required glasses.
The official name of the new display is ASUS VG278H and this one features a standard TN 27” panel with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels which translated to FullHD.
The average (real) contrast ratio is not mentioned in the official manufacturer specifications, but the marketing oriented dynamic contrast ratio is proudly rated at 5 million to 1.
The 2 ms gray-to gray response time is quite decent although not comparable with a 2 ms response time measured by the black-white-black criteria.
ASUS’ VG278H 3D monitor sports a modest 300 cd/sqm brightness and we would have liked a higher value, especially when wearing 3D glasses.
The pricing is set at $640 in Japan and that’s around 500 EUR for European buyers.
