Apple Posts Steve Jobs Video and Message from Tim Cook

Apple has released a tribute video in Steve Jobs’ memory. Appropriately titled “Remembering Steve,” the one-minute clip greets visitors of Apple.com (using the appropriate web browser). As it ends, the video leaves viewers with a message from CEO Tim Cook.

Taking viewers through the key moments of Steve Jobs’ life at Apple, “Remembering Steve” features short voice clips from the man’s iconic keynote presentations, featuring the launch of the iMac and the iPhone, as well as Steve’s dedication towards blending technology with the humanities.

The footage is a treasure trove of high-quality images depicting Jobs with various Apple products, all in black and white.

Instead of mourning the passing of its visionary leader, Apple is again celebrating the “extraordinary” life he had. And Tim Cook says it best, in a message for the Apple fanbase.

“A message from Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

Steve’s passing one year ago today was a sad and difficult time for all of us. I hope that today everyone will reflect on his extraordinary life and the many ways he made the world a better place.

One of the greatest gifts Steve gave to the world is Apple. No company has ever inspired such creativity or set such high standards for itself. Our values originated from Steve and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple. We share the great privilege and responsibility of carrying his legacy into the future.

I’m incredibly proud of the work we are doing, delivering products that our customers love and dreaming up new ones that will delight them down the road. It’s a wonderful tribute to Steve’s memory and everything he stood for.

Tim”

As usual, Apple is likely to keep the front page of its web site product-free for a while (at least until this time tomorrow).

The company’s web store is also back online with no visible changes as of yet.

The outage could well be connected to Apple’s initiative – the online store and the official Apple web site are heavily integrated with one another.
