The flow of cheap Android smartphones in India seems to never end. There are so many native handset manufacturers that offer affordable Android alternatives, that customers who have yet to embrace Google’s mobile platform will have to do some research before acquiring their first device.
Today we will be talking about S Mobility’s Spice Stellar Horizon handset, which has just hit shelves in India.
However, starting today Android enthusiasts will be able to purchase the Spice Stellar Horizon smartphone for only Rs 12,499 (240 USD or 185 EUR) off-contract. Check it out here.
For the time being, the handset is only available via Saholic, but other major retailers across the country might start selling it in the near future.
At first glance, Spice Stellar Horizon is bang for the buck. The main attraction is the large 5.0-inch capacitive touchscreen display, which, sadly, only supports 480 x 800 pixels resolution.

Spice Stellar Horizon also packs a 5-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash, autofocus and video recording, as well as a secondary VGA camera for video calls.
The phone’s high-capacity 2400 mAh Li-Ion battery has yet to be rated by the manufacturer, but we suspect it will offer quite a strong lifetime.
When it comes to connectivity, Spice Stellar Horizon offer quite a range of options, including HSPA, Wi-Fi, including tethering, GPS and Bluetooth support.
Last but not least, the smartphone is powered by Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, with little to no chance to receive a Jelly Bean update.
