45 Degree and High Resolution Aerial Images Available in Google Maps for Tens of New Cities
As Apple is coming to regret its decision to oust Google Maps out of iOS 6, if indeed it was its decision and not Google's, Google continues to improve its mapping product, albeit for everyone except iOS 6 users.
Google has released 45-degree aerial imagery for 51 new locations, 37 in the US the other 14 in the rest of the world.
Of the international locations, Pisa, home of the famous leaning tower of Pisa, is probably the best known. And, of course, the well-known landmark is present in the new imagery, you can admire it from every angle.
The 45-degree imagery is better suited at admiring the tower than the satellite or the straight-down aerial images also available.
Google is also making available plenty of other new imagery. In the latest update, it provided new aerial images, i.e. top-down images shot from a plane rather than satellite, as well as satellite imagery for 17 cities and 112 countries or regions.
The full list is available in Google's blog post.
