PlayStation 4 Might Support Ultra HD 4K Resolution, Report Says

Sony’s oft-rumored PlayStation 4 next-generation console might be so powerful that it can display footage of up to a 4K resolution, according to a new report, which claims that Sony wants to use the feature to promote its 4K-ready Bravia TVs.

Even if Sony is still heavily promoting its PlayStation 3, many rumors have started appearing about its replacement, the next-generation PlayStation 4.

While we heard about many of its features, BGR has now reported on a brand new aspect of the console that might certainly attract gamers obsessed with high-quality experiences.

According to the website, the PS4 might support 4K resolution displays, meaning it will be able to display footage at a much higher resolution than its current maximum – the 1980x1080 Full HD one.

Examples of such 4K resolutions include the Ultra HD one, of 3840x2160, but also 4096 x 3072, for example.

Sony is pursuing this goal in order to use the PS4 to promote its upcoming 4K displays and, according to the report, both Blu-ray movies and games can be displayed at the aforementioned resolutions.

As of yet, Sony hasn’t commented on the report and, given its reluctance to talk about the PS4, it’s unlikely to see it admit anything about the next-gen device.
