The New Wallpapers of Ubuntu 12.10


Last week we've announced that the Ubuntu 12.10 wallpaper contest emerged, which took place on Flickr, whcih ended on August 28th.

It took only two days to decide the winner, and today, August 31st, we are proud to announce that Canonical packed and uploaded the winning photos on the daily build of the upcoming Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) operating system.

This time there are fewer, therefore only twelve new wallpapers were added, not including the default one, which looks unchanged from the previous Ubuntu release.

In order of appearance, the names of the default wallpapers in the Ubuntu 12.10 are: A Little Quetzal by Vlad Gerasimov (VladStudio), Below Clouds by kobinho, Blue Dandelion by Jaorizabal, Green Plant by Simon Schlegl, Cairn by Sylvain Naudin, Early Morning by Robert Katzki, Frozen by Fernando Garcila Redondo, H by Manuel Sagredo, Pantano de Orellana by mgarciaiz, Roof Tiles by Finn Sturdy, Vanishing by James Wilson, and Gran Canaria by ALF.

The wallpapers were created by community members. Congrats to the authors of these beautiful photographs! Without further ado, these are the 12 new default official wallpapers of Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal):

On October 18th, Ubuntu 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) will become the 17th release of the popular Ubuntu Linux distribution.

Powered by Linux kernel 3.5, Ubuntu 12.10 will be supported for two years and it will include default apps like Mozilla Firefox 16, Mozilla Thunderbird 16, LibreOffice 3.6, and much more.

Ubuntu 12.10 will have a much improved Unity user interface built on top of the GNOME 3.6 desktop environment.
