ASUS Vivo Tab RT Runs Windows RT on Tegra 3

The new Vivo Tab RT 10.1” tablet from ASUS is the old Tablet 600 that the company has decided to rebrand before the highly anticipated Windows 8 and Windows RT (Win8 for ARM) launch coming this October.

Therefore, we’re dealing with a 10.1” ARM tablet, but this one doesn’t come with the popular Android operating system. Instead, ASUS’ Vivo Tab RT has Microsoft’s Windows 8 in its ARM compatible implementation.

For tablet fans that are used to Google’s Android and don’t really know what Windows RT is, we must mention that RT is in fact a fully-fledged ARM version of the Windows 8.

The most important fact to be remembered is that Windows RT is not compatible with Windows 7, Windows XP or VISTA programs and games like the normal Windows 8 is.

Both operating systems look the same, but the compatibility is completely different.

Our personal impression is that Windows RT on the ASUS Vivo Tab RT moves a whole lot faster than Windows 8 on the x86 ASUS Vivo Tab powered by Intel’s Atom that we presented here.

The Vivo Tab RT is powered by the popular Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core ARM Cortex A9 mobile processor.
