Metal Gears Raiden Confirmed for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

Even if he was leaked some time ago, SuperBot Entertainment has now officially confirmed that Raiden from Konami’s Metal Gear Solid series would be featured in PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, its upcoming fighting game.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is set to feature a wide array of characters, both heroes and villains, from all sorts of franchises, both owned by Sony and by other third-party publishers.

After revealing earlier this week that the Evil version of Cole MacGrath is present in the game, SuperBot has now confirmed that Metal Gear Solid’s Raiden would also star in the upcoming fighting experience and would make full use of his cyborg body and powerful sword.

Check out his full description below.

Raiden is a close-ranged fighter who is capable of building tremendous amounts of AP with various combos and juggles. He uses a special chain-attack system that lets him branch off into different combo attacks depending on the string of attacks input by the player. He has plenty of ways to both start and end combos, whether they be on the ground or in mid-air.

Raiden can also defend against attackers attempting to interrupt his combos from behind with reverse stabs and parries, which is useful in a four-player free-for-all. In true Metal Gear Solid fashion, Raiden’s super attacks allow him to take full advantage of his slicing abilities by requiring players to use the right analogue stick to perform lethal slices to swiftly dispatch adversaries.

Besides Raiden, the studio has also revealed a new stage that will be present in the game, called Time Station. Ape Escape players definitely remember the location, as it was the central hub that connected the title’s various levels.

“At Gamescom we announced the inclusion of Ape Escape’s Spike to our roster, and with him comes this old-school stage for players to engage in battle,” SuperBot said. “Fans might remember Time Station as the central hub that connects the different levels of Ape Escape together. You can also find the diabolical Specter in the background, up to no good as usual. What kind of mischief will he cause for those battling in Time Station?”

Expect to hear about other characters and levels as we get closer to the release of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale this November for PS3 and PS Vita.

Until then, check out the screenshots and video with Raiden and the Time Station stage below.
