Darksiders II Fails to Take United Kingdom Number One

During its first week on sale Darksiders II, the action and role-playing mix from developer Vigil Games and publisher THQ, has failed to take over the number one position in the United Kingdom video game chart during its first week on sale.

For the seven-day period that ended on August 25, the big winner in the United Kingdom was Sleeping Dogs, the open-world third-person action from developer United Front Games and publisher Square Enix.

The game also spent its first week on sale at the top of the chart, which is quite the performance given that the game that started life as True Crime: Hong Kong was at one point canceled by Activision.

Darksiders II managed to take over second place during its first week.

The last place on the podium in the United Kingdom has gone to New Super Mario Bros. 2 from Nintendo, which during the previous week sat in second.

Fourth place was occupied by London 2012: The Official Video Game from SEGA, a game that’s proof that the Olympics still have a lingering presence in the country that organizes them while fifth place was taken over by another new entry, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, developed by High Moon Studios and published by Activision.

LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes from Warner Bros. Interactive has slipped from fourth to sixth and seventh place has gone to Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, the shooter from Ubisoft that was previously one position lower.

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games is now in eight, followed by Batman: Arkham City.

LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7, another titles from Warner, closes down the United Kingdom top ten.

The Amazing Spider-Man, from Activision, and Dead Island Game of the Year Edition, from Deep Silver, are now out of the leading pack.
