PS Vita Firmware Update 1.80 Locks Memory Cards to a Single PSN Account

It seems that the long awaited firmware update 1.80 for the PlayStation Vita, which includes a variety of great features, also has an unfortunate drawback, as it apparently locks a memory card to a single PSN account.

PlayStation Vita owners eagerly awaited the release of software update 1.80 for their handheld console, as it included not just support for PSone Classics but also a variety of other features, like the ability to use the Vita as a PS3 controller.

Now, NeoGAF users, via Destructoid, have found a hidden “feature” in the firmware, namely that it won’t allow multiple PSN accounts to save data on a single memory card.

Instead, once players sign into another account and try to save data on the Vita’s card, they receive a message telling them to format the memory card.

As you can imagine, this isn’t thrilling Vita owners, who are now forced to redownload games or buy separate memory cards for their different accounts.

As of yet, Sony hasn’t commented on this aspect of the firmware update.
