YouTube Sees 1 Billion Mobile Views Daily, One Quarter of the Total

YouTube has just introduced its first official native iOS app. Up until now, the app was built by Apple and this meant no ads. Google was missing out on a huge revenue source.

To give you an idea of just how big a revenue source mobile is, YouTube now says that it now sees about 1 billion views per day from mobile devices.

That's about one quarter of its total daily views, a significant chunk. Supposing iOS accounts for roughly half of the mobile views, it's easy to realize why Google needed to start monetizing iOS users.

What's more, the trend is growing, people are spending more time on their mobile devices and are watching more videos on them.

YouTube, like most other web companies, have been having some trouble making the switch, specifically, trouble making the same amount of money from their mobile apps or sites as they do from the regular desktop sites. Facebook in particular is dealing with this problem.
