EndWeekGame: September 28

Andrei Dumitrescu: FIFA 13 was finally launched this week (I first got to play the game during E3 2012, back in June) and that means that I plan to spend most of my weekend playing the new football simulation from EA Sports, probing its nooks and crannies to see exactly how different it is from its predecessor.

I’ve already played quite a bit of FIFA 13 and it is very unpredictable, a game where the slightest mistakes might bloom into an attacking opportunity for the other side and even the best planned offensive move can disintegrate because of a slightly too hard pass.

It’s very fun to play though and the fact that the game is hard to predict also creates a tension that’s very pleasurable.

When I get too much football in my system I plan to also return to FTL, the rogue-like space-based title from Subset Games.

I already managed to beat the game once, but I look forward to doing so using new tactics and other ship configurations.

Andrei Dobra: This weekend I’m overdosing on loot, as not only will I spend time with Torchlight 2 but also with Borderlands 2, two very different sequels that produce quite a similar experience.

Torchlight 2 was on my radar for quite some time and, ever since I tried it out during the beta stage earlier this year, I’ve been more than looking forward to the game’s eventual release.

While it may be compared to Diablo 3, it’s definitely a more old-school game and I can see myself spending many tens of hours with the dungeon crawling RPG from Runic Games.

When I won’t be riding around Torchlight’s world alongside my pet wolf Stark, I’ll be exploring the planet of Pandora in Borderlands 2.

After seeing me with the game, my wife decided to try out the experience and we’re now blazing through the shooter together.
