Kojima Says Favorite MGS Battle Is Showdown Between The Boss and Snake

Hideo Kojima is currently working on a new Metal Gear Solid video game, but he still found time to take part in a Questions & Answers session at the Eurogamer Expo 2012, during which he offered some information on the franchise as a whole.

Speaking to the audience, he revealed that his favorite moment from the series was, “the ending of Metal Gear Solid 3 – the final battle between The Boss and Snake is really meaningful to me. It’s really a battle where Snake has to defeat his mentor, and it creates a struggle within the player because you have to defeat this enemy because it’s your mission, but you don’t have to either.”

A close second was the final fight with Liquid Ocelot in Metal Gear Solid 4.

Asked about his favorite villains, the developer stated, “two bosses come to mind – Psycho Mantis and The Sorrow from Metal Gear Solid 3. Just because the way you defeat those enemies had never been done before, so they were something special. Moving from this point on I have a lot of ideas for supposed villains and hopefully I’ll be able to show you them one day.”

The game developer also approached other subjects, like similarities between himself and Snake and what other game series he might work on.

At the moment, the Kojima development team is overseeing the creation of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, a Raiden-powered experience that will focus on action mechanics and that will be launched on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 in the first few months of 2013.

The team is also directly working on Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.

The new game will use the new Fox Engine and will have an open-world structure, allowing the player to move around stealthily before engaging his opponents.

The game will probably launch of the next generation of home consoles during 2014.
