Nintendo Details DLC for New Super Mario Bros 2

Video game publisher Nintendo has revealed that it plans to launch downloadable content for New Super Mario Bros 2 and a part of it was detailed during a Direct presentation that you can watch, in Japanese, at the end of this article.

The three new adventure packs for New Super Mario Bros 2 will be launched on October 2 in Japan and will offer three new challenges for experienced players:

Ippatsu Shoubu de Dokidoki Pack – which offers gamers a very difficult course to test their skills on;
Gold Mario Go! Go! Go! Pack – challenges players to get to 30,000 coins;
Kiroku ni Challenge! A Pack – opens up the previous task and asks gamers to get as many coins as they can in the their run through New Super Mario Bros 2

Nintendo will probably launch the same content for Western versions of the Mario powered adventure at a later date.

Nintendo has usually been one of the few companies in the video game industry that was unwilling to launch DLC for its games and preferred to create a new game in one of its important series rather than extend the life of previous ones.

This was partly because of the limited network infrastructure included in the original Wii home console and because of the lack of interest from the more casual player base.

With the 3DS already getting much of its content from the network and the enhanced abilities of the coming Wii U Nintendo is changing its approach and will probably deliver extra content for many of its titles.

In time for the launch of the Wii U home console Nintendo will deliver New Super Mario Bros. U, which is a launch title for the new device and will be available on November 18 in North America, November 30 in Europe and December 8 in Japan.
