Tears of Steel Amazing Movie Produced with Blender

The Blender Institute has released a short movie demonstrating the awesome powers for Blender, an open source 3D creation tool.

“Tears of Steel” is a short film shot in Amsterdam by the Blender Institute. All the funding obtained for this project was poured in the exploration of a complete open source pipeline for producing a high quality visual effect film, using open source software.

The movie was produced by Ton Roosendaal, with the help of Ian Hubert. They were assisted by an international team of 3D and vfx artists from Netherlands.

The plot makes use of a Sci-Fi setting, and it's about a group of warriors and scientists who try to recreate a past event in order to save the world.

The film, along with all the raw footage and studio files, will be released as free and open content, under the Creative Commons Attribution license.

Blender is a fully functional integrated 3D creation software suite that can be used for a variety of tasks, ranging from simple scene rendering to full blown movie production.

If you want to give it a go, just download the latest version of Blender right now from Softpedia.
