Video game publisher Electronic Arts has revealed that day one sales of its football simulation FIFA 13 have increased by 42 percent when compared to 2012, with the game moving 353,000 units to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 players in the United States.
It’s not clear why Electronic Arts has not included sales on the other versions of the game in its sales report.
The publisher has also revealed that sales of FIFA 13 on the iOS-powered devices have grown by 62% when compared to 2012.
FIFA 13 can also be played on the PlayStation Vita, the Nintendo 3DS, the Wii, the PlayStation 2, the PC and the older PSP.
The sales total of FIFA 13 can also increase when it delivers its Wii U versions, which are slated to arrive in all territories on the same day that the new home console is available.
FIFA 13 is one of the core franchises for EA Sports, alongside the likes of Madden NFL and NHL, and a strong performance for the game is good news for the company, especially considering the trouble that has affected the NBA Live series.
The new game introduces a host of changes over FIFA 12, all of them designed to make the game more unpredictable.
There are improvements to the physics engine and changes to how players interact with the ball that make sure that even the best players have some problems when controlling long-range passes and that a mistake can quickly change the course of the best planned attacking phase.
FIFA 13 also evolves the Ultimate Team mode that has attracted many players to the series with the ability to create their own custom teams.
