Sharkoon is moving into the USB 3.0 world by launching two new cards readers featuring the very fast transfer interface and an external USB 3.0 hub.
The new accessories will offer greatly increased transfer rates and compatibility with large SD cards with up to 2TB in capacity.
The internal Sharkoon USB 3.0 card reader comes with a 1-meter-long USB 3.0 cable and both units are compatible with SDXC cards with a capacity of up to 2 TB, SD and SDHC cards, microSD and microSDHC and mini SD cards.
CompactFlash v4.1 with PIO mode 6 is supported along with Ultra-DMA mode 6, v5.0 with LBA48. This allows cards with a capacity up to 144 PB to be read by the device.

SONY’s Memory Stick devices are also readable by the new card readers, may those be in Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick PRO Duo, Memory Stick Micro, Memory Stick PRO-HG or Memory Stick XC implementation.
Memory Stick cards with a capacity up to 32 GB are supported and the card reader is compatible with the "Memory Stick Series" sporting specifications as MS v1.43, MS PRO v1.05, MS Micro v1.04 (MS HG Micro v1.00), MS PRO-HG Duo 1.03, MS XC Duo v1.00, MS XC-HG Duo v1.00, MS XC Micro v1.00 and MS XC-HG Micro v1.00.
The Sharkoon External USB3.0 Hub reportedly has 4 ports and comes with a 120-centimeter data cable and a separate power pack for situations when the devices connected require more juice.
The Sharkoon External USB3.0 Card Reader is priced at 18 EUR ($23) while the Sharkoon Internal USB3.0 Card Reader costs just the same and the Sharkoon External 4-Port USB3.0 Hub is slated at 20 EUR ($26).
