Apple Expands Volume Purchase Program to More Countries

Apple is encouraging iOS developers to make their apps available to businesses and educational institutions via the Volume Purchase Program, now offered in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Spain, United Kingdom, and the United States.

“Make your apps available through the Volume Purchase Program, which allows businesses and education institutions to purchase apps in volume for their organization,” says the Cupertino, California-based computer giant.

“You can also offer custom B2B apps to business customers who have a Volume Purchase Program account,” says Apple.

The Volume Purchase Program for Business allows organizations to purchase and distribute apps to their entire staff, in bulk. Custom B2B apps are offered to meet specific requirements.

The Volume Purchase Program for Education lets you roll out apps in volume to K-12 and higher education. Developers can choose to offer a discount when institutions purchase at least 20 copies.

Developers need to make sure they’ve reviewed the latest iOS Program License Agreement and all attached Schedules.

After verifying that their tax and banking information is set up in iTunes Connect, developers can then choose to sell their apps normally, or offer special pricing for education.

To do so, they must select the Discount for Education Institutions checkbox within iTunes Connect in their app settings.

As for creating custom B2B apps, Apple says this is the developer’s chance to “Provide unique, tailored solutions directly to business customers who are enrolled in the Volume Purchase Program.”

“Custom apps can only be distributed to authorized buyers you identify in iTunes Connect, providing the privacy and peace of mind your customers will appreciate,” Apple explains.
