OMG Life Creates the Autographer Hands-Free, Wearable Camera

Audio recorders can go on and on and remember what people have been saying, or whatever other noise was in the area at the time, for as long as the storage space lasts.

OMG Life followed a similar concept when it made the Autographer photo camera, although rather than using video recording technology, it implemented an automatic method of taking photos.

Depending on where it is being worn, the Autographer uses information from six sensors to decide when to snap a photo.

The six sensors in question are GPU (global positioning system), accelerometer, magnetometer, motion detector and a thermometer.

"Photos are a great way to document and share life experiences, but they can sometimes be a bit predictable with the same postcard views and posed smiles – pointing a camera lens at people often changes the fabric of the moment,” says Simon Randall, head of OMG Life.

"Photographers go to great lengths to capture life in an authentic and natural way and see the Autographer as a great new way of effortlessly doing this."

To capture images, the camera uses a 5-megapixel image sensor and 8 GB of on-board storage. Bluetooth can be used to share the content, while an OLED display lets one preview the shots.

OMG Life went into quite a few details when it made the product page, so drop by and take a look if more details are needed.

“We've spent a lot of time developing our wide-angle eye-view lens which is at the heart of the Autographer's story-telling ability. It gives a unique first-person perspective that allows the wearer to tell their story uninhibited as they see it,” Simon Randall explains.

The Autographer will start shipping in November and although we don't have a price yet, at least we know that the item will be available for the holidays.
