Nintendo Promises Great Content for Wii U

Reggie Fils-Aime, who is the president of Nintendo of America, has stated that his company plans to bring a lot of great content to the upcoming Wii U home gaming console in order to persuade players to make it their primary gaming device.

Speaking to Kotaku, the executive stated, “So as a consumer thinks about Wii U, asks ‘Should I jump into this proposition?’ Aside from the 50 games that we’ve talked about during the launch window, am I feeling pretty comfortable that there’s gonna be a lot of great content for me to buy? Absolutely.”

Fils-Aime also emphasized the contribution that third-party publishers could also have to the success of the Wii U.

He added, “And the best part is that now with HD capabilities and a strong online system, third-party are gonna bring their best content to the Wii U. Because those were two key barriers that if I’m creating the latest Call of Duty experience and I’m looking to bring it to the Wii a year ago, in an SD format without a robust online experience, they made the decision not to do that.”

When the launch line-up for the Wii U was announced, many players were worried that Nintendo was preparing a lot of titles for the launch period and that the system might get less interesting content after that.

Reggie Fils-Aime admitted that Nintendo made some mistakes during the final years of the Wii’s life, but he says that the company has learned its lesson and would not do the same with the Wii U.

The new Nintendo home console will be launched on November 18 in North America, on November 30 in Europe and December 8 in Japan.

The new device will come in two packages, a Basic and a Premium one, and on launch the console will get support from Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Activision and THQ.
