Nintendo Might Announce More Games for Wii U Launch

Regie Fils-Aime, who is the president of Nintendo of America, has revealed that his company might add more titles to the launch window of the upcoming Wii U home console in order to attract more players.

Speaking with IGN, the executive states that some gamers are complaining that the launch window for the Wii U is too long and then says, “This is a real double-edged sword.”

Regie Fils-Aime also believes that, “What we’re trying to do is give the most complete picture of the games that are going to be available now, as well as over the next number of months. That’s why we’ve focused on this launch window, through March 31.”

The executive would not offer any information on what kind of video games Nintendo might announce for the Wii U, but presumably they are linked to internal studios rather than to third-party developers.

The launch list for the Wii U in North America includes titles like: Nintendo Land, Wii Fit U, Game & Wario, Pikmin 3, Assassin’s Creed III, Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth, Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, Mass Effect 3, Madden 13, FIFA 13, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and many more.

Nintendo has made efforts to draw action titles and shooters to the Wii U after they were largely absent from the original Wii.

The company might be preparing more titles in this genre in order to show off the possibilities of the new hardware.

The Wii U is said to have a less powerful CPU than the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 but compensates by offering developers more memory.

The biggest innovation of the new home console is the touchscreen-enabled GamePad controller.

The Wii U is out on November 18 in the United States, November 30 in Europe and December 8 in Japan.
