New Evidences Support the Clovis-Age Impact Theory

The claims made by a group of scientists doubting that a meteor impacted North America around 12,900 years ago, putting an end to the native Clovis Culture, were proven to be wrong in a new study.

Experts from seven research groups in the United States demonstrated that disregarding three types of scientific protocols made the former draw erroneous conclusions. Apparently, the team that announced the theory to be wrong did not find iron- and silica-rich magnetic microspherules at their dig sites.

The new investigation demonstrated that the detractor team did not sort samples by size, did not examine the correct amount of materials, and used the necessary microscopy technique in an unsatisfactory manner. These factors led to different conclusions.

University of Oregon professor of psychology, and study co-author, Edward K. Vogel, points out that this type of mistakes are common, and that scientists should pay more attention to following protocol in these matters.
