iPhone 5 Battery: Not That Much Better

Apple touts some impressive mileage for the iPhone 5’s battery on the handset’s tech specs page, and while it does seem to last longer compared to the iPhone 4S, the difference is negligible.

In our own tests of the iPhone 5’s battery, we discovered that Apple still has a long way to go before it develops a phone that can go two full days without a charge.

I mean, you can get there, but only by dimming the screen, turning off cellular networking when you’re not using it, perhaps giving up location services too, and so on. Constantly adjusting these power-hungry features can be a pain in the neck for most users.

However, the phone does perform better than its predecessors â€" the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. We can confirm that it does last a full day (daylight hours) with every service switched on full blast.

Note: Apple fans should always keep in mind that the battery life touted by Apple on its marketing pages is the result of measurements carried out in optimal conditions â€" half screen brightness, cellular web access turned off, etc.
