Intel 14nm Broadwell Processor Taped Out Months Ago

In a very interesting turn of events, we’ve just found out that Intel actually has functional 14nm processors that have been tested by the company and are able to run Windows, but the outfit is not willing to announce them at IDF 2012.

Intel’s 14nm Haswell is codenamed Broadwell and according to Fudzilla.com, the chip has reportedly been taped out already, but this achievement is not going to be part of Intel’s announcements at this year’s IDF event in San Francisco, California.

AMD is obviously not going to seriously challenge Intel’s top performing x86 processors anytime soon, and therefore it seems Intel is in no hurry to announce its 2014 generation of CPU although the company already has them.

What’s most important is the fact the Intel actually has working 14nm processors while AMD’s main partners, GlobalFoundries and TSMC, are still improving their 28nm facilities.
