Check Out the New eBay Logo, the First Redesign in 17 Years

Following another big redesign of an iconic logo, the new Microsoft logo, eBay is doing the same. What's even more interesting is that eBay seems to be taking the same route Microsoft took, the new logo is just minimalistic at best.

It's basically just the eBay name with all the letters in different colors. The font seems to be a slightly tweaked Univers Extended.

So eBay apparently took a cue from Microsoft and just copied Google, probably more so than Microsoft. OK, that's a bit mean, the new eBay logo actually looks pretty nice and it's definitely better than the 90s monstrosity it's currently sporting.

Then again its current logo is 17 years old and it's a product of its era. Remember that the Yahoo logo showed up at about the same time. Jumpy letters were all the rage.

"Our refreshed logo is rooted in our proud history and reflects a dynamic future. It’s eBay today: a global online marketplace that offers a cleaner, more contemporary and consistent experience, with innovation that makes buying and selling easier and more enjoyable. We retained core elements of our logo, including our iconic color palette," eBay president Devin Wenig writes.
