Americans Wanted to Go to Paintball This Summer, the Brits to Squash and Canadians to the Beach

Summer may be over (for half the planet), unfortunately, but that doesn't mean we can't remember all the fun we had during it. Or all the fun someone else had for that matter.

Actually, that doesn't sound like such a good idea just as fall is beginning, but Google is adamant of making us remember that either a) we had fun this summer and now we can't or b) we didn't have fun in the summer but other people did.

Well, at least Google put it in an infographic, those are always fun, right?

The Americans seemed to be all about the action, as "paintball" was the most searched topic on Google Maps, followed by "campground" and "beach."

"Before we approach the official end of summer on September 21, our Google Maps team thought it’d be fun to see how those of us in the Northern Hemisphere have spent the dog days," Google explained.

"To do this, we reviewed the summer search activity on maps.google.com in several countries between the end of May and the beginning of September," it added.

Those last two proved popular all over the world, unsurprisingly, "camping" ranked the highest in France followed by the US, Canada and tied in Spain, Italy and the UK.

Beaches though were just as popular, perhaps surprisingly so, being the most popular in Canada.

They ranked the highest in Spain too, and were the second most searched summer topic in France. Beaches came in third in the US and the Netherlands and only eight in Italy.

Maybe that's because Italians mostly just went to restaurants and to the countryside rather than hit a beach or a camping site.

Ice cream was also popular there, it was the 10th most searched for location.

The Brits weren't so keen on beaches either, maybe that's because they are so cold.

Instead, UK folks preferred "squash," it was the top search in fact, going to a park or, something that's popular all year round there, pubs and bars.
