TomTom's Navigation Apps Now Take You to Pasted URLs

TomTom has released version 1.11 of its navigation apps for iPhone and iPad allowing users to navigate to addresses found on the web, search with foursquare, and finally get the newest TomTom maps.

Drivers no longer need to type locations as the app now automatically works out the destination and directs them straight to places they’ve found on websites and other apps by copying and pasting the address.

In addition to Facebook Places, TomTom apps now integrate with foursquare, allowing users to search and navigate to their favorite places, check in etc.

Once they update, users will get the latest TomTom maps, along with a new certified Danger Zones service, which warns drivers about speed cameras. The user interface has been updated to make it more intuitive.

Commenting on their new release, Corinne Vigreux, Managing Director Consumer at TomTom, said, “Drivers now have new ways to find places with their TomTom app.”

“This should be particularly helpful when people are off on holidays and day trips. They can find great places to visit and get there fast with foursquare or a quick copy-paste. And that leaves more time to relax and have fun,” added Vigreux.

In releasing its updated iOS apps, TomTom took this opportunity to remind customers of its new Hands-Free Car Kit for iPhone which uses a built-in 2 watt speaker for navigational directions and hands-free calls.

The latest version of TomTom’s apps include a new switch that drivers can quickly toggle to stream their iPhone audio through to the car kit.

As always, the latest versions of the TomTom Navigation apps for iPhone and iPad are available as free downloads from the iTunes App Store to existing customers.

Newcomers will pay 50 bucks in The States, 39.99 British Pounds in the UK, or €69.99 throughout Europe. Visit the App Store here for TomTom’s navigation apps.
