The Padintosh - An iPad Case That Looks Like Apples First Mac

Die-hard Apple fans who were lucky enough to enjoy Cupertino’s first-ever Macintosh computer have the chance to bring back some of the swag with the Padintosh Case for iPad, a protective enclosure for iPad 2 and the third-generation iPad.

Targeting Apple fanatics who understand the legacy of Apple’s original Macintosh, the Padintosh Case For iPad sells for $24.99 (around 20 Euros) and delivers both style and function.

ThinkGeek says the accessory is “For the hardcore Macintosh geek (you know, the ones who remember when they were called "Macintoshes") [who wants to] rock the retro look.”

Designed after the original Apple Macintosh, the case shows a floppy disc slot and beveling around the "monitor." Hopefully, Apple doesn’t get any bright ideas about this accessory too.

While the iPhone 5 mod was clearly using too much of the Apple brand and logo to sell itself, the Padintosh is an innocent product that merely puts “nostalgia at your fingertips,” as the creators themselves note.

“This case isn't just about funky style. The ultra-thin hard casing will protect your iPad from accidents, and it's compatible with the Smart Cover you already own,” says ThinkGeek.

“Use it to rock old-school geek at your next 80's party: pocket protector, suspenders, pencil behind the ear, and the Padintosh, the ultimate in portable computer nostalgia,” the company adds.

Under “Product Specifications,” ThinkGeek mentions such key features as “nostalgic storage for iPad 2 & 3,” compatibility with Apple’s own Smart Covers, an ultra-thin 2mm hard body, a precision cut for snug fit and maximum protection, all combining to “maximize your Mac geek cred!”

What are you waiting for? Grab one before they run out!
