Samsung to Offer Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update for GALAXY S III in Q3/Q4 Report

It’s been more than a month since Google officially announced the availability of Android Jelly Bean, and none of the well-known smartphone manufacturers has confirmed plans to update their devices currently running previous versions of the mobile platform.

However, it appears that Samsung is actively working on an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S III, and will soon come forward with official word.

The guys over at SamMobile got word from an insider that firmware tests for Samsung Galaxy S III have been successfully completed.

Moreover, the South Korean company currently works on a version for the general public, which is expected to go live sometime at the end of Q3 or early Q4. Anyway, one thing is certain - Samsung Galaxy S III will receive an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade by the end of the year.

In the same piece of news, Samsung is also testing a Jelly Bean update for Galaxy S II, and the first results look more than promising.

This means that Samsung Galaxy S II will also receive an Android 4.1 Jelly Bean upgrade soon after Galaxy S III gets the update.

Still, there’s a slight chance that Samsung won’t be able to update the Galaxy S II to Jelly Bean, though we’re not sure how they’re going to be able to explains this to millions of fans who own one of the most popular smartphone on the market.

Anyway, in case this happens, word is that Samsung will offer some sort of a “Value Pack” update for Galaxy S II, which will provide users with some of the features included in Android 4.1 Jelly Bean platform.

The third Samsung smartphone slated for a Jelly Bean update is the Galaxy Note. Apparently the first firmware tests have been completed successfully, which means the device will also get the upgrade in the following months.

Last but not least, Samsung Galaxy Note II, which is rumored to be announced on August 29, will be powered by Android 4.0 ICS. However, Samsung may decide to ship the Galaxy Note II with Jelly Bean out of the box, but if this doesn’t happen, an update will be available soon after launch.
