Get PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale on the PS3, Get It on the Vita for Free

Sony has made a big push for the PlayStation Vita handheld during its Gamescom 2012 press conference and part of the hardware marker’s move include giving away a free version of the upcoming PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale for the device as long as a player picks up the game for the PlayStation 3, thanks to a new Cross Buy system.

The game is the biggest video game launched for the PlayStation brand of devices during the fall of this year and with the offer Sony is trying to persuade those who have been holding out on the Vita that there are good reasons to pick it up.

The developers have also announced that the two versions of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale will have cross platform play for up to four players, allowing them to engage in a number of new game modes and experiences that would have never been possible as long as the handheld and the home console experiences would have been kept completely separate.

In order for the cross platform play to work, the development team needs to put a lot of work into making sure that the control systems are equally adept at making gamer competitive on both the Vita and the PlayStation 3.

The push for the Vita is also clear in the new Little Big Planet release for the handheld, which is designed to use all the input capabilities of the device, from the normal thimbsticks to the rear touch.

Sony plans to use the game as a way of showing both gamers and developers what the Vita can do and then create a clear demand among players and interest about the teams that could create new games for it.

Sony hopes that Little Big Planet and PlayStation Battle Royale will make the Vita a must buy in time for the Christmas shopping season.
