Facebook Starts Deleting Cosplay Profiles, as Fakes

Plenty of Facebook accounts are fake. The social network itself said it and everyone knew it. Some of the fake accounts are spammy ones, but many are just "alter egos" or duplicate accounts.

Facebook obviously doesn't like fake accounts since the fact that people use real names, well to a degree, is the site's greatest strength and one of the biggest selling points to advertisers.

Facebook is constantly on the lookout for fake accounts and is always tweaking its algorithms and filters to weed them out.

It seems that recently it got another trick up its sleeve, if not a particularly clever one, it figured out that most if not all accounts with "cosplay" in them are fake, so it proceeded to disable them all.

Obviously, the solution in this case is to make a page. Plenty of cosplayers have already done so, those are in no threat of being deleted and they can showcase all the photos they want and engage with fans. But plenty of cosplayers prefered to have a profile, for the personal touch.
