Chrome Beta 22.0.1229.14 Improves Mouse Control for Games

Google rolled out a much-awaited major beta release for Chrome browser. The new version available for all supported platforms is 22.0.1229.14 and it brings to the table a small, but important batch of modifications.

The most significant is the availability of mouse lock API for JavaScript, which means that gaming in Google Chrome just got better because you can now pan the screen without the cursor being visible. This is particularly useful in first-person shooters. You can try the new feature here.

Additional changes in this release refer to enhancements for Windows 8 OS and increased quality for users of HiDPI/Retina screens.

You will also notice that the wrench icon for entering the configuration panel of the browser has been replaced with the “hot dog” pictogram, which resembles the settings icon for Android apps.
