Amazon Debuts Official "Send to Kindke" Extension for Chrome

Kindle and ebook readers in general have been created to, well, read ebooks. But they're great reading devices no matter what it is you are reading. And, despite what some might have you believe, there's great stuff on the web to read, thorough, long-form stuff.

The problem is, the web and our regular browsing habits aren't great for long-form content, be it a long, six-page article, or a short story or even a interesting blog post for that matter.

That's not a recent problem and solutions abound, there are plenty of "read it later" extensions, bookmarklets, apps and so on. But if you're going to read it later, why not do it properly and use your Kindle.

This is where a special breed of these extensions, bookmarklets and so on, come in and there are plenty to choose from.

Now though, Amazon has finally joined the fray and is offering an official "Send to Kindle" Chrome extension. As the name suggests, the extension is designed to make it easy to send stuff you want to read to your Kindle.

"Send to Kindle for Google Chrome makes web articles easier to read – we send just the content you want and not the distractions," Amazon explains.

"Once you download and install, a Send to Kindle icon will appear on your Google Chrome browser. Support for Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari is coming soon," it adds.

The extension works for the Kindle ereader, but it's not limited to it. You can read anything you "send" to yourself in any Kindle app, on your PC, on the web, on your iPad and so on. What's more, your progress will be synced between any device or app you're using. You can grab Send to Kindle here.
