Higgs Boson Announcement Is Highly Controversial, Because of Comic Sans

CERN's announcement of very enticing evidence of something that looks like the Higgs boson, acts like the Higgs boson and "sounds" like the Higgs boson, though the scientists still won't call it the Higgs boson, has been rather controversial, but not why you'd think.

The science part was actually quite predictable, everyone was expecting the announcement to be that the evidence for the existence of the Higgs boson at around 125 GeV and that's what we got.

What was controversial was the font chosen to convey the historical findings, none other than Comic Sans. Because nothing says scientific rigorosity like Comic Sans. Bashing on Comic Sans is now as cliche as using it, but the choice is still a rather poor one.

The hate against Comic Sans has been fueled precisely by its use in official documents and serious papers, the exact opposite of what it was created for, i.e. comics or anything looking for a lighter tone.
