Watch: Robins Are the World's Most Vicious Predators, Argues The Onion

Although highly ironic, The Onion's “Horrifying Planet” series can in fact be regarded as also being educational, especially if one can separate fact from satire and take the things presented in these videos with a pinch of salt.

This episode centers around robins, a bird species that is part and parcel of North America's biodiversity.

As the state bird of Connecticut, Michigan and Wisconsin, this species is rather widely known amongst American citizens, and quite easy to recognize should one happen to stumble upon some of its representatives out in the great outdoors.

Apparently, robins are known to be some of the first birds to sing once the sun begins to rise, and most people tend to appreciate their chirps.

It may be that robins are presently a species of least concern, meaning that their overall population is not facing any significant threats, yet it cannot hurt to learn more about these birds and their influence on North American natural ecosystems.
