Watch: Glowing Scorpion Uses UV Light to Attract Prey

This video shows how one particular class of scorpions relies on UV light in order to procure its next meal.

Or at least this is what scientists believe, given the fact that no other reasonable explanation has so far been provided for why it is that these scorpions have evolved to glow in the dark.

Thus, researchers believe that several insects are in fact attracted to the light emitted by fluorescent chemicals, and this is why the scorpion saw fit to make itself more appealing to the invertebrates it feeds on by making sure its body more than stands out in the dark.

Naturally, the scorpion is also well prepared to take down and feed on its prey once the latter approaches it out of sheer foolishness.

To cut a long story short, its claws are quite suited for grabbing and holding other insects and its sting is sure to deliver death.
