Sports Interactive Is Already Working on Football Manager 2016

With Football Manager 2013 officially announced by developer Sports Interactive and publisher SEGA, the team behind the biggest football management simulation in the gaming world is already thinking about the way its product will look in 2015.

Miles Jacobson, who is the studio director at Sports Interactive, has told VG247 that, “we tend to work – in the annual iterative cycle we’re in – by planning about three years ahead so at the moment, although I’m directing Football Manager 2013, we’re also pulling together the FM14, 15 and 16 feature sets at the same time.”

The executive says that the plan is to continue to offer the most in-depth football management simulation while also making sure that each player can adapt the level of complexity of the game to his own possibilities and needs.

Jacobson added, “There will be the ultra hardcore who will sit there and rack up a thousand hours playing the game a year and they want every level of detail to be absolutely perfect. So we’ve made sure there are things for them, such as a new financial system.”

The developer explained that each country now had its own tax regime in the game and that it would affect the way players responded to transfer requests.

Some players might see that as an insignificant detail and they are free to play the game without ever thinking about it.

The most hardcore of players will always want more realism and deeper simulation options and Sports Interactive plans to deliver that, but they are also including a new Classic mode that allows players to run seasons quicker and still have fun while doing so.

Football Manager 2013 introduces a new 3D match mode, better simulation of the various staff roles, more options for network play, better media interaction and worldwide leaderboards.

The game is set to arrive before Christmas this year, on the PC and the Mac.
