Slackware 14.0 RC5 Is Now Ready for Testing


Patrick Volkerding has announced last evening, September 19th, the immediate availability for download and testing of fifth Release Candidate of the upcoming Slackware 14.0 Linux operating system.

Marked as the last development version for Slackware 14.0, this fifth Release Candidate comes with Linux kernel 3.2.29, Git 1.7.12.1, Slacktrack 2.12, Subversion 1.7.6, Glibc 2.15, Samba 3.6.8, vsftpd 3.0.2, DHCP 4.2.4_P2, PHP 5.4.7, and Less 451.

Slackware 14.0 RC5 also includes updated packages like Shadow 4.1.4.3, sysvinit-scripts 2.0, libsoup 2.38.1, BIND 9.9.1_P3, Netatalk 2.2.3, ca-certificates 20120623, udev 182, ALSA 1.0.26, Seamonkey 2.12.1, HPLIP 3.12.9, Midnight Commander 4.8.4, Mozilla Thunderbird 15.0.1, Mozilla Firefox 15.0.1, xine-ui 0.99.6, xine-lib 1.1.21, bluez 4.99, and dcron 4.5.
