Scythe Launches New GlideStream 140mm Cooling Fans

Well-known cooling expert Scythe has just announced four new cooling fans that belong to the new GlideStream product family. The New devices have an interesting design that supposedly offers better airflow and better noise reduction.

All the new fans announced by the company today are models with a140-millimeters diameter.

The inlay of the screw holes is rubberized, but we find this to be rather pointless as a simple rubber mooting screw does the job even better and these have been around for decades.

Also, if the inlay of the screw hole is made of rubber, then using metallic screws will surely damage it while using rubber screws on rubber inlays will not bring any significant reduction in noise or vibration.

The company claims that the fans have a smaller rotor, but we can’t really see that just by looking at the pictures.

The fan blades are now coming with striations that are supposed to help with airflow and noise, but we’d really like to see a real-life test that would prove that.

Scythe offers one PWM GlideStream 140mm fan while the others come with fixed rotational speed in 800 RPM, 1200 RPM and 1600 RPM versions.
