Samsung Galaxy S III Developer Edition Arrives at Verizon

Verizon Wireless' customers can now purchase a new highly appealing smartphone on their wireless carrier's network, namely the developer edition of Galaxy S III.

The phone was promised since July, and was also listed on Samsung's website as up for pre-order, but it seems that the first units are already arriving in user's hands.

Some of those developers and enthusiasts who ordered the smartphone are saying that their units have been shipped, a recent article on Pocketnow reads.

Unlike the original flavor of the mobile phone, which was released at Big Red a few months ago, the new device comes with an unlocked bootloader, thus offering users the possibility to easily install custom software on it.

The smartphone is listed as available for purchase on Samsung's website with model number SCH-I535 attached to it and with 16GB or 32GB of internal memory.

The Galaxy S III Developer Edition was released in Pebble Blue with the same hardware specifications as those included in the original model.

However, users who would like to purchase the phone would have to pay the full, unsubsidized price for it, a compromise they will make for receiving a handset that can be easily tweaked.

The 16GB version of the unlocked Galaxy S III is priced at $599.99, while the 32GB flavor of the handset goes for $649.99.

For this kind of money, users will receive a smartphone that packs the same 4.8-inch HD Super AMOLED touchscreen display, and a 1.5 GHz dual-core application processor inside.

It also sports an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, capable of recording videos in full HD resolution, as well as a 1.9MP camera on the front, great for making video calls.

The smartphone comes with support for Verizon's 4G LTE network, as well as with WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS receiver and the like, while being powered by a 2100mAh battery.

The features list of this developer device also includes TouchWiz, Smart Unlock, Accelerometer, Motion Gestures, Smart Stay, S Voice, S Suggest, Kies Air, Pop Up Play, Share Shot, and AllShare Play.

Unfortunately, it still runs under the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich platform, although it might receive an upgrade to Jelly Bean next month.
